It’s Sunday night and I have to wake up ridiculously early tomorrow and I still haven’t written a post today, so I’m going to be lazy and direct you to other people I think rite and draw reel good. It goes without saying that there are waaaaaaaaaay too many people whose writing and art I admire to fit them all into one post, so maybe I’ll make this a thing I do on a regular basis. As regularly as I can given the fact that I am about the farthest thing from regimented as one can be, but I’ll try.

1. On the very serious and poignant topic of parenting mentally ill children, Adrienne Jones (No Points for Style) appeared in Brain, Child Magazine. She’s amazing in that she gives her child the tools he needs and the education WE need. Throughout her piece, “Why My Son Doesn’t Know He’s Mentally Ill” are sprinkled so many morsels of brilliance and truth. Go read it now.

“In fact, people with mental illness are all around us, dealing with challenges that range from very mild to profound, and our obligation to help them meet their needs for treatment have almost everything to do with being decent people and only a tiny bit with preventing violence.“

2. My friend, A’Driane Nieves (Butterfly Confessions) is an incredible writer and advocate and educator of her friends when it comes to race, but tonight I wanted to spotlight her art – of which I only recently learned. It’s frikkin gorgeous.  Click on this link of her paintings. Now.

3. Another friend, Chris McColl, has started a brand new blog in which he promises to make you feel better about yourself because you are almost CERTAINLY a better artist than he is. It’s called, Awful Pictures, Terrible Words. My favorite so far? THIS ONE. Go ahead. Read it. Also, I picked his blog so you would know I have friends who are NOT named Adrienne or some other such variation, like A’Driane.
